Athena from McElrath Cabaret here. I came across an interesting blog post by a lady who is a performer working in New York City concerning the negotiation of contracts when you get hired for work. It is important to move forward in your cabaret business, so that you can maybe make some money at it, or at the very least break even, so it is important to learn all that you can about marketing yourself and your act. Negotiations can be a part of the cabaret business at times. For this lady, it was a situation where the booker put the onus on the performer to say what she wanted in terms of compensation, and she had not been in the situation before, so was a bit unsure of what to say. Here is a link to the post.
I have some exciting news about our upcoming cabaret performances, but will wait until the New Year to spread the news! Have a wonderful end of the year–I hope you spend it with people you love, doing things you enjoy!
